Drive Day / by Mark Nunneley

We got up early on December 26th or "Boxing Day" to drive down the coast to our next destination which aaas Franz Joseph. Boxing Day is the day following Christmas when servants and tradesmen would receive their gifts, known as a Christmas box from their bosses or employers. This was definitely a long drive day. Its nice in that every square inch of New Zealand is breathtaking. Truly amazing. We drove from Motueka on the far northern coast to Westwood on the west coast and then down the coast toward the south to Franz Josef

As we were approaching Franz Josef a rainbow appears from the afternoon shower.

About half way on our journey we stopped at the Pancake Rocks & Blowholes. The huge swells that batter this coast have eroded the limestone cliffs, carving them in to fantastical shapes. WC1
