Caddo Lake Texas / by Mark Nunneley

Caddo Lake in far East Texas is a 25,400 acre Lake on the Texas and Louisiana border.    The lake is the only natural lake in the entire state of Texas and features the largest cypress forest in the world.  This photo was taken in the fall a little after the peak color occurred.  The lake is so incredibly cool.   First of all its a little scary and creepy.   There have been numerous scary movies filmed in and around the lake the most famous being "Curse of the Swamp Creature."caddo-1   Second, its a step back in time.  I highly recommend visiting the lake and staying overnight in one of the many cabins located all around the lake.   The main town around the lake is Uncertain, Texas.  There are about 150 folks that live in Uncertain and all work on the Lake.  This photo was taken last November.
